Choosing Studio Tools

Studio allows you to add and remove tools to suit specific project requirements. To start configuring tools, select Tools > Configure. This brings up the Tools Configure dialog.

Tools can be deployed/undeployed from Studio by simply checking/un-checking them in the dialog. When undeployed, the tool is removed from the menu bar.

For tool properties, select the tool and view them in the right panel. The following properties are displayed for every tool:

Tool Name

Main Class Name

JAR Files/Classes

Adding a tool

The Tools Configure dialog also provides a facility to add custom tools to Studio. This can be done in two ways:

Import a prepared JAR that contains the above properties in a manifest file.

Select the JAR containing the tool classes and submit the above properties of the tool in the dialog.

Importing a tool (as a JAR) adds it to the list of tools available in Studio. Click in Import and select the tool JAR to be added.

Alternatively, click on New and enter the tool properties: Bean Name, Main Class Name and JAR Files/Classes. To save the tool properties, click on Save. This saves the tool in Studio and becomes available for deployment.

Modifying tool properties

Changes made to Tool Name, Main Class Name, JAR Files/Classes and Description can be updated using Modify button. The Modify button is enabled only when a change is made to one of the properties.

Deploying a tool

To deploy the tool in Studio

Open the Tools Configure dialog box

Check against the tool on the left side panel.

To exit from Tools Configure dialog, click Close.
